Why Golf is the Best Sport in the World

Is Golf the Best Sport in the World?

The short answer is yes!

The Pandemic

Golf has somewhat exploded in the wake of the pandemic, due to it being the only sport that many people could play due to the restrictions. With a wave of new people joining the pursuit of hitting a very small ball into a very small hole, this brilliant game is rightly starting to get the appreciation and recognition it deserves.

A lifetime of Pleasure

Is there any other sport except golf that you can play to a decent standard from youth to old age, probably not, it's not like it gets boring either, there are constantly new courses to play, different things to work on and new friends to be made and the handicap system allows you to compete on a level playing field no matter your age or physical condition.

The Great Outdoors

The old phrase ' a good walk wasted' could not be more untrue. The game allows you to experience some unbelievable beautiful scenery, often surrounded by your best mates or family members, all whilst having a laugh, or a cry depending on how the rounds going.  After a stressful week, nothing beats getting out in nature, seeing the people closest to you, and playing the best game ever invented.

Keeping Healthy

In a world of office jobs and greasy takeaway food, it's easy to let your standard of health slip.  Golf is  a great way too combat this because you walk for miles, often on slopes and hills. It is easier to stay consistent with it as well, it does not feel like a chore and your chances of picking up injuries are a great deal lower than other types of exercise. Saying this, however, the post-round pints probably aren't doing your health a world of good, but for the sake of my point let's forget about that. So if you are looking for an enjoyable way to stay healthy, start playing golf. Linked below is an article from circle health group outlining the benefits of playing golf

Golf is 'Cool' Now

Golf is no longer a game for rich men, trying to avoid their wives at the weekend. Why has it become 'cool'? there are many reasons, such as how the game is slowly but surely shaking off the snooty reputation that it has had for so long. Also guys like Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson have got people talking about golf and injected life into the sport. It's not just the pros that are improving the image of the game however, influencers like Rick Shiels and Paige Spirinac are creating interesting content about the game, and I encourage you to explore their various online platforms. The latter deserves special praise for helping to encourage females to pick up the clubs. A mixture of these public figures, clubs getting more inclusive and players getting younger is really helping the game grow and become 'cool'.

This is a rally cry to all the non-golfers who may read this, if you don't play golf, get yourself down to your local course and start enjoying the best sport in the world.
